Salsa? Rock? Jazz? Tango? Paris!
Some of you have probably seen the summer dancing along the Seine at dusk. It's an outdoor party each and every night when it isn't raining, and it really fascinates all of the people in the passing tourist boats, but most of them can't figure out where it was when they get back on shore.

So I will tell you that the metro is Jussieu or Gare d'Austerlitz and then you just head towards the Seine. You can hear the music before you can see anything.

Here is my photo essay on the subject, straight out of my camera from my outing this evening:

kerouac, a few years ago. I forget where along the Seine, was a tango night.

This is reason alone to go to Paris! It looks like a blast!

It's become a dream of mine to dance along the Seine...thanks Kerouac for bringing dancing Paris to me.

Kerouac, how long will it continue? My trip to Paris is not till the end of August through early September. Oh, how I'd love to joint the fun!

kerouac Jun 18th, 2009 07:47 AM

Theoretically, this continues until September 30th as long as the weather remains nice.

kerouac, this one is absolutely my favorite so far. Your photos bring me much joy.

During my many evenings of cafe sitting I watched the dancers come by for cigarettes before their night of salsa at the big club accross the street. I always wanted to go but never had the nerve. One night I was sitting on the outside of the cafe and a nice man stopped and asked me if I wanted to go dancing. Of course, I did not go. I wonder what I missed. There is just not the zest for life here and I miss it so.

Thank you for giving us a look at this exciting part of Paris
summer fun.

As you can see from the photos, these crowds are very mixed and a lot of the people only know each other as "dance friends" that they see from time to time and have danced with on previous nights, previous weeks, previous summers.

It sort of reminds me of "bowling alley" culture, where people have 'friends' that they only see at the bowling lanes.
