Well it would appear that your deals are being subsidised by the silly prices that they are trying to charge for return travel in the opposite direction.

Still showing over £1000 return in April UK to Bahamas. At those prices we are going to Italy next year.

Yanumpty, I'm not sure your point is valid. Are you saying that travel originating in the Bahamas to the UK and back costs less than the flights originating in the UK and going to the Bahamas and back?

The sale referenced in this post is in any event for trips beginning by March 31 and returning by April 17.

American are quoting me £680 for a Manchester / Miami return during the sale period. Add on a connecting flight to Marsh Harbour and the price goes up to £960. Considering we paid £550 MAN/MHH this spring I don't consider AA sale the best value.

I would be interested to see how the prices compare when trying to book the other way.

I would be interested but can't be bothered. Trans-atlantic flights have priced us out. We can afford the tickets but we are simply not paying over the odds for two weeks in the sun which we can have in Europe for £80 return with easyjet. We will not see Tiger sharks in Sardinia but will have £2500 extra spending money.

yeah, I usually don't get a price break on these deals b/c I don't live in a 'hub' city... But at least someone could benefit.

Thank you for poking my interest. I have just tried US as a comparison who are offering a good price £450 return including taxes. In a round about way you may have got us airbourne!

I agree about the issue with hubs. Most of the UK is becoming closed to direct long haul flights. All the BA partnership airlines want to route you through Heathrow, so that they can financially rape you at Terminal 5. What is even more annoying is that when there is any sniff of bad weather the first flights that are cancelled are the shuttle flights from provincial airports to Heathrow. ie you miss your long haul connection.

With this, security, the weather, taxes, base ticket prices many of us outside LOndon are giving up with long haul flying.
There are still many deals (less than £100) with low cost operators from provincial UK airports to Europe (and our security issues are reduced).
