Salamanca, Valladolid & Burgos side trip

last year, august 2019, we took a one week side trip from Madrid to escape the intense heat. we took the Avid express train to Valladolid 1 hour 20 min. its a beautiful city with nice sights to see . we stayed in an NH hotel on the other side of river. excellent hotel; modern , clean, affordable. we took the train north to Burgos, amazing city, a must see. cathedral is incredible, el cid tomb inside, the old city is loaded with sights. the train station is outside of center, bus takes you to downtown. you see folks on the way of st james pilgrimage. later that week we took coach south to Salamanca . walked from station to old town. ancient university and two cathedrals ; wow! a great trip.

Thanks for your TR. I agree all 3 locations are worth a visit!

Your trip reminds me of one we did over 30 years ago which took us to all three of these cities, plus some others. It was our first visit to Spain and we loved it. Thanks for reviving my memories.
