Saint Louis Marais

I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with the St. Louis Marais. There is one hotel discussed in Fodor's called the St. Louis which had awful reviews in the rants and raves section, but this hotel has a different address. Thanks for your help!

I've never been there, but here's what they had to say on the Paris Pages (http://www.paris.org/Hotels/hotel.cgi?7118210503080118120519227775707074):

Very romantic! Staff was extremely friendly. Room always neat & clean. Charming atmosphere. Extremely handy to metro. Area was suprisingly quiet at night.

Charming rooms, very clean. Helpful staff, lovely breakfast room. Good location and very quiet.

A very nice smaller hotel in a very quiet area with very helpful staff. Good location near the Marais and near Notre Dame. The rooms well very clean and well maintained.
i recall that your hotel, st-louis marais, and the appropriately panned hotel saint-louis, are owned and managed by the same folks. inquire.

I have reservations at the Hotel St. Louis Marais next month. I made the booking based on several positive reviews on-line including this one: http://www.truefrance.com/st_louis_marais.htm

I will also be staying part of my trip at the Hotel du Globe in the 6th.

Hope I made good choices :-)

I'll be sure to post a report of my experiences when I get back at the end of May.

The Hotel L'Ile St-Louis and the St-Louis Marais are advertised as sister hotels, though the Marais is 2* and the L'Ile is 3*. I've stayed at the later. The Hotel was very nicely renovated in 2001. The location is superb. Unfortunately, as we learned the hard way, the hotel has no regard for reservations it gives. We reserved a top floor room (specifically for its size and balcony) months in advance, confirmed in writing. The week of arrival they told me in a follow-up e-mail from me they couldn't guarantee the room we reserved and were guaranteed. Though we were given the room when we arrived, and the desk help was, for the most part, quite charming and helpful, we won't return to the hotel. I never said a word about the experience until I read of a last minute cancellation by the hotel on this forum. Then the flood gates opened with similar reports. Good luck.
