Sailing Corsica

Would anyone care to comment on sailing around the island of Corsica?

What are harbour fees like; sailing conditions in general; infrastructure geared towards the sailing community; etc.?

Other than the obvious major towns and their harbours, are there any particular small bays worth visiting?

Any particularly noteworthy coastal features, anomalies? ie. good snorkeling spots, good beaches to anchor off etc.

For starters, you might try NP46 Vol 2

Bowditch is good.

The southern part of the island is a sailor's paradise, IME. Bonifaccio, Isla Magdalena, and the Lavezzi Islands are simply wonderful, IMO. Of course it has been over 40 years since I sailed those waters, but the memories are still sweet.

To add, you should really look at information that is more current than mine. There are a number of cruising guides and forums available for something more up to date. Here is a link to the Corsica section of "Cruisers Forum":

Thanks nukesafe. I am posting elsewhere as well, just want to see what info if any I can get on this forum.

mooring fees are high compared too much of the Med

Not a concern bilboburgler. I anchor off in a bay more often than I pick up a mooring or dock slip. But thanks.

Just curious, Improvisor, do you have your own boat in the Med, or are you going to charter?
