When we went a year ago, there was only one open that day, so it may be that you have no choice. It was fabulous!

I thought you went up one and down another. Walking across a walkway between the two.

ribeirasacra is correct. You can either walk up or take the lift to near the top of a tower and walk across from one to another. As tex says, what's open depends on the work. The lift we have used is to the right of the reception desk.

Thanks. This was confusing because when purchasing a ticket over the internet the process asks which tower you want to go up. Whatever. I just selected one arbitrarily and have a ticket printed.

I think you have to choose the Nativity side or the Passion side. These two sides are not connected. When I visited, only the Nativity side was open, so that was what I did. I went up one of the four towers on the Nativity side, crossed over a short bridge to another tower on the Nativity side and walked down.

You can see how both side stairs look like at Youtube. If you look at an aerial photo of Sagrada Familia, you can see two clusters of four towers: four on the Nativity side and four on the Passion side.

Ditto on what Greg said about the two tower options. We visited in July and picked Nativity - the view was great. Here is our trip report with some tips about visiting Gaudi sights, http://latitudeb.com/gaudi-architecture-in-barcelona/. Have fun!
