Sagrada Familia--how do I time the guided tour?

Hi Fodorites!

Well, it would seem obvious if the English guided tour starts at 11h. But it starts INSIDE the Basilica. How can we be sure to be inside on time? Can we add the tower visit after the tour?

I'm only asking because so many are saying to book ahead online.

Thank you!

Absolutely book ahead on line. The lines to buy tickets are long. Why would you want to stand on line when you could spend your time looking at the church?

You can book everything at one time, entrance, inside tour and tower.

I would arrive in enough time to take a look outside in the front and spend some time inside before the tour.

Note: When you book on line for Sagrada Familia you will get a ticket for each person, not for the party. Be sure to print the correct number of tickets.

I didn't really answer your question. If the guided tour starts at 11:00 then be on line to buy tickets at 9:00. I have no idea how long you will have to wait but why take a chance and have to wait 2 hours for the next English tour.

If you sign up with Marta at Forever Barcelona (www.foreverbarcelona.com), she'll arrange everything for you.

This is not complicated at all if I understand your question correct.

If you buy your tickets online you enter directly through the gates surrounding the church without any wait. You can buy tickets online a long time in advance. If you choose the 11h tour (many other tours with English speaking guide each day) just enter through the gates surrounding the church some 10-15 mins before (and when inside the gates you can come and go in and out of the church as you like), and meet up with the guide outside the church (but inside the gates). The tour starts outside the church (but inside the gates) with some 15 minutes dedicated to the facade(s).

Lots of Sagrada familia employees all over the place who can tell you where to meet up with your tour/guide, but it's some 20 meters inside the main entrance gate (and outside the church) and impossible to miss.

The guided tour takes some 60 mins, and you're free to continue your visit after it's over. With my vertigo the towers have been totally out of the question, so can't help you there besides pointing to the website where the only tower option is together with an audio tour, not the guided tour.

Thank you everyone!

Kimhe, you answered my question perfectly. The guided tour then is a timed entry, so we won't have to also wait in a long line. Perfect. The towers may be too much, we are fascinated by the engineering and design.

Yes, you will have to wait in a long line if you don't buy your tickets in advance.
