Safety of London Train Station/ Gatwick Express @ night

Hi,

I will be traveling by myself from London to Gatwick around 11 PM on a Tuesday night. I could take a taxi or I could take the Gatwick Express. Is the train station safe at that time of the night? What about the train itself?

Thanks!

You 100% DO NOT want to take a taxi in from LGW. It will take a long time and cost a fortune.

The Gatwick Express is totally safe. Then you can take a taxi from Victoria to your hotel if you prefer not to use the tube/buses late at night.

Where is your final destination in London?

You could get the cheaper Southern Trains service from Victoria or a First Capital Connect (formerly Thameslink) service from a number of stattions including Kings Cross Thameslink & London Bridge.

Check out the Journeyplanner on www.tfl.gov.uk as it may save you a lot of travelling time & money

As for the stations, most ofr the major stations will still be reasonably busy at 11:00pm so just take the normal precautions you'd take in any city

You could also take a Southern train from Victoria to Gatwick. Only ten minutes slower than the Gatwick Express and definitely cheaper (9.00 GBP).

The First Capital Connect train from Kings Cross Thameslink costs 10.00 GBP.
