Safety of London Train Station/ Gatwick Express @ night
Hi,
I will be traveling by myself from London to Gatwick around 11 PM on a Tuesday night. I could take a taxi or I could take the Gatwick Express. Is the train station safe at that time of the night? What about the train itself? Thanks! |
You 100% DO NOT want to take a taxi in from LGW. It will take a long time and cost a fortune.
The Gatwick Express is totally safe. Then you can take a taxi from Victoria to your hotel if you prefer not to use the tube/buses late at night. Where is your final destination in London? |
You could get the cheaper Southern Trains service from Victoria or a First Capital Connect (formerly Thameslink) service from a number of stattions including Kings Cross Thameslink & London Bridge.
Check out the Journeyplanner on www.tfl.gov.uk as it may save you a lot of travelling time & money As for the stations, most ofr the major stations will still be reasonably busy at 11:00pm so just take the normal precautions you'd take in any city |
You could also take a Southern train from Victoria to Gatwick. Only ten minutes slower than the Gatwick Express and definitely cheaper (9.00 GBP).
|
The First Capital Connect train from Kings Cross Thameslink costs 10.00 GBP.

Don't worry, its safe.
