Safety in turkey

Hello

I am visiting istanbul and cappadocia in mid September and I wanted to get some first hand views on the safety there. Especially with the recent embassy attacks and Isis trouble. Is it a really trouble stricken area. We are going to be near sultanamt area to stay at istanbul and will be there for 3. Days. Would love to hear from any of you if you have some views on the current situation. With so many countries issuing warnings against turkey, it doesn't seem like a good time to visit.

No. You will me 1.000 km from the dangerous area. A friend was recently there and reported that everything is quiet in Istanbul (it is a huge metropolis). My son will travel to Istanbul in September, too. I am not concerned at all. We do not expect any trouble.

But be careful with taxi drivers in Istanbul! They drive as hell - and the risk of a traffic accident is a million times higher than the risik of being involved in a terrorist attack.

My experience was a couple of years ago, so not recent, but I would go in a skinny minute. It is one of the most interesting and wonderful places we have been. Cappadocia is amazing.

Think about this. In light of recent events in Baltimore and St Louis, the shootings in SC, etc. would you tell people not to come to the US?
