OK, you got me--I have heard guns going off at firing ranges.

I also live in a state--Florida--that has issued over one million concealed carry permits. No, we're not running around like Yosemite Sam. But it's kinda nuts.

American (craft) beer is awesome.

In 2015 people questioned my cousin and me visiting Paris just weeks after the terrorist slaughter. While we were in Europe terrorists attacked in San Bernardino--the county seat where I live. I have returned to Europe three times since then without fear.

Now I do hate to fly and have some anxiety but prepare myself by getting to the airport early, taking a carry-on that will get me through a couple of days should my suitcase go missing and in future I will pack my own food. Last summer Air France served me some bizarre looking inedible concoction that my friends could not believe when I showed photos later.

I hope you and your son have a great trip.

When your time comes, it comes.
Whether it's a plane crash, a stroke, or even....
the Chinese satellite that's going to fall to Earth sometime this year.
Can't control any of it.

What you CAN control is inedible food.
American Airlines served us some inedible concoction in September. Perhaps they use the same vendor that Air France used for Scootoir's flight. Mine was similar to kitty litter.

Could that be someone's national food specialty, and I'm just being culturally insensitive?
