Safe to use online booking companies (i.e., itwg, venere, dilos)??

I'm considering booking a hotel in Bologna, but they don't have their own web site. They're listed on ITWG, Venere, and Dilos. Has anyone used these services?

Thanks!

Monica

I have never used any of them so cannot help there. The hotel must have an e-mail address, no??

I've heard good things about venere. The other alternatives are FAX or just calling. (You can find the phone number on www.paginegialle.it, the Italian Yellow Pages.)

I have used both Venere and Dilos in the past with no problems.
And I have never read of any CC/money safety issues with either one.

I used them when I couldn't get a response from hotels I wanted to stay at in Italy and Greece. But it's almost always cheaper to book directly thru the hotel.
Regards, Walter

Hi Monica! I've used Venere to book a hotel and it seemed to work just fine and their rates were cheaper than the hotel. Also, I just used reservationitaly to book a hotel in Rome and it was quite a bit cheaper. I even called the hotel to check and they told me they would honor reservationitaly price and that I should book with the booking service directly. Louisa

Monica, We actually found that we received better rates by emailing the hotels directly. Sometimes, Venere, etc. was 20-30 Euros more.
