safe to travel to turkey?
I've been wanting to go to Turkey for a while now. My husband is concerned about safetly at this time and is hesitant to go. Any thoughts on the safe traveling?
Thanks for your insights nancy |
I am taking my wife and three kids in April and I am much more worried about the 2 hour drive to the international airport in Brisbane!! Those bloody terrorists in Volvos with funny hats...now they are something to worry about !

If you type Turkey and safety to the search you will find many posts.

All of those posts about Turkish safety may or may not be relevant now. It might be more helpful if we knew WHY your husband is so concerned. Something he read? Something he heard? Something he KNOWS that nobody else does?
"Safety" can mean anything from lack of pickpockets to the possibility of being mugged or raped or robbed or shot and killed or run over on the highway. Be more specific and you'll get more useful information. |
Thank you for your responce - it is all the terrorist talk that has him concerned.

I was in Istanbul this past October and perceived no hostility or ill will from anyone - I felt quite comfortable. You may be inundated by carpet dealers but that's about the worse I experienced - and even then, when in Turkey you know to expect this....

Last year we visited Turkey (April/May) and everyone said "it wasn't safe" due to the Iraq war. Well, we were not to be discouraged and we loved it! Spent 16 days there--the people were gracious, courteous and helpful...extremely helpful. The food is delicious!
Enjoy! |
