Safe Paris Hotel - Solo

Any recommendations for safe Paris hotel in safe area for solo female traveler? My husband and I stayed at a great place last summer, but I would like to go back again, this time spend less than $200/night. I'd like clean, non-smoking, semi-budget. Would appreciate any ideas. Thanks.

Whenever I go to Paris on my own I ususally stay at the Hotel du Globe et Quatre Vents on the street of the same name. The rooms are adorable and it is right at Odéon so I feel quite comfortable walking by myself in the evening to the cinema. It's a crowded neighborhood when you get off the Odéon Métro stop but the street itself is quiet. And a block away from that stupendous patisserie, Gérard Mulot, on the rue de Seine! They have a single room on the top floor but it is teeny, tiny (as is the bed) and the toilet and bathrooms are in former closets. I am not a big girl but felt kind of cramped and now stay in a double room by myself.

The hotel doesn't have a website but I found this - http://www.myhotelinparis.com/hotels/093.htm

Hi e,

We always stay at the Hotel Bonaparte, 61 Rue Bonaparte in the 6th. It is located near 3 metro stops. Has AC and an elevator, 24 hr concierge, and is within your budget.

I'm a solo traveler and my new favorite in Paris is Hotel Valadon in the 7th.

Another vote for Hotel Monge. The street itself is fairly quiet in the evening but very close to the metro and rue Mouffetard.

I've a male solo traveller.

Nice location would be one of the hotels on Ile St Louis. Close to everything, people during day and evening, but quieter overnight. Plus, good shopping, fine restaurants, 5 minutes to Notre Dame, 5 minutes to Left or Right Bank, etc..I've stayed at two of these, I've never read any bad reviews, apart from the "rooms are small" and "elevator is small".

People here seem to also like these.

Hope this helps,

We recently got back from a stay at Hotel de Varenne in the 7th, about block from the Rodin Museum. I think single rooms are about 127 Euros a night. It had clean, albeit smallish rooms and a nice bathroom (although I can't vouch for the single).

Although some reports to the contrary, the front desk people were very helpful if we needed hotel reservations or other info.

The metro stop was about a three minute walk (not on a main line, but easy to transfer to wherever you are going). Short walk to Napoleonville (Invalides), Eiffel Tower, Musee Orsay, Grand Palais and that street of controversary for Fodorites, the Rue Cler.

There were a couple of single travelers there the week we stayed before Christmas. I would definitely recommend it for you. Also, if you go during warmer temperatures, there is a neat little courtyard to down your morning espresso.

I felt safe at both Residence des Gobelines and Hotel de la Porte Doree.

I really appreciate all your suggestions and will investigate. Traveling solo is very different from going with a partner. I plan to go in April. Thanks for your help!
