Ryanair Announces New Routes within Italy

Yesterday, Ryanair announced that it will commence flights on April 28 between Rome-Ciampino Airport and Alghero, Treviso and Brescia, at introductory fares as low as 4.99 Euros!!!!! (Taxes and surcharges are extra).

Well, I guess that's nice, but I wonder how many people hurriedly clicked on here hoping to see Rome - Venice or Naples - Venice?

Not too many of us have been sitting here perplexed about how to make the trip between Treviso and Brescia.

abbynicole27 Feb 1st, 2005 02:18 PM

It WAS Rome to Venice - I just checked it out on the site. GAC meant flights between Rome and those three cities, Treviso being their access airport for Venice.

Jocelyn_P Feb 1st, 2005 02:19 PM

Actually Treviso is not that far from Venice...if the airport is somewhat close to the train station in Treviso it may not be a bad way to get to central Venice.

Laurie Feb 1st, 2005 02:21 PM

Ryan Air provides a shuttle bus that correlate with their fights from Treviso to Venice. It costs 5 Euro per person.

Laurie Feb 1st, 2005 02:22 PM

Whoops! I meant it correlates with their flights!

GAC Feb 1st, 2005 02:22 PM

abbeynicole and Jocelyn are correct!

The Treviso airport is not far from Venice, and is a reasonable alternative to the Marco Polo Airport (Venice).

The Brescia airport is not far from Verona, and is a reasonable alternative to the Catullo Airport (Verona).

The Alghero airport serves both Alghero and Sassari, both in northwest Sardinia.

But a flight between Rome and Treviso (which is close to Venice) may be useful for many people.

WillTravel Feb 1st, 2005 02:26 PM

Oops, everyone said it first.

KT Feb 1st, 2005 02:28 PM

Actually (she said in a little voice), I'm interested in a cheap flight from Rome to Alghero.

Leely Feb 1st, 2005 02:36 PM

No need to say it quietly. Rome and Sardinia, flying cheaply and easily? Sounds fantastic.

See you there, KT.

great prices .... give Alitalia some competition

kismetchimera Feb 2nd, 2005 08:46 AM

I dont understand why that there is not such thing as a direct flight from Venice to Nice without going first to Lyon or Paris.

abbynicole27 Feb 2nd, 2005 08:53 AM

Amen to that - we're going to do a night train, because no one flys that route

kismetchimera Feb 2nd, 2005 11:51 AM

abbynicole, you must be taking the 22:52 train to Nice, I like to travel in daytime and enjoy the pretty scenery.
I will leave Venice at 7:52Am.with a transfer in Milan and I arrive in Nice around 4PM.
