Russian Ship to Faroe Islands/Greenland?

On a recent trip to Iceland I met an Australian woman who had traveled by Russian ship Denmark-Faroe Islands-Iceland. She was also traveling by Russian ship (not sure if the same one) from Iceland to Greenland. I did not get the name of the ship's line, & am returning to Iceland June 2013. Would very much like to travel either to Greenland or the Faroe Islands from there. The Danish ferry doesn't fit my schedule, nor do the airlines. I want to depart Iceland on 29 June. Any recommendations for finding the Russian ship(s)? Even if I don't make it this trip, would like the info to plan another trip. Thanks for any info!

I wonder if she was on a Quark operated ship such as the Vavilov or Ioffe (Russian ships they charter[ed] for expedition cruising in polar regions)? If so, you could check out the Quark Expeditions website, but these are not ferry-type ships for transport from one place to another if that's what you're looking for.

If you find out the answer, do post back here ... we're going to be in Iceland next fall and would like to head over to the Faroes from there, so an alternative ship to the ferry would be good to know about.

Thanks for the info; I'll check it out & report back.

Checked Quark Expeditions. Nothing there I could find similar, but they have a lot of interesting trips. I fear the Faroe Islands will have to wait for another time, but I am definitely going there & to Greenland. It's a Bucket List thing--

We have the same bucket list, apparently. Will watch this thread, though I'm late to it. Please post and relevant information. I'm hoping to get to the Faroes in the spring and back to Iceland in the fall.
