Russia - the Golden Ring - help please!
 

We are going to Russia in May 2008 and wish to do a small side trip to some of the Golden Ring towns outside Moscow. Which towns are a 'must see' and how do we get there? We only have 2 to 3 days. We don't mind if we do a tour or has anyone travelled there independently? If so, accommodation, etc. recommendations please. Thanks in advance.

Can't help much yet as we're going next month. I would suggest if time is limited then Suzdal is the place to head for. When there we'll be stopping at The Convent of the Intercession which has rooms.

I suspect you'll do best on a tour of some sort.

Thanks for a quick reply Michael. Are you doing a tour? If so would you mind letting us know with whom? We have been in touch with www.toursinrussia.com but they said they would not have their May 2008 schedule out until April 2008! We need to know dates, etc. before then so we can plan, etc. Thanks for any other info.

It's a week for two of us from UK with a guide in Russia so the agent (Audley Travel) won't be of any help to you starting from inside Russia.

Suggest you Google 'Golden Ring' and also individual towns and see what comes up.
