Running trails in Munich, Germany?

Hi! Will be in Munich for a week starting Thursday ..... wondering, if anyone can recommend any good running routes in or near town? for early mornings, before i can go away for meetings etc etc.,

Thanks,
Hari

Englischer Garten (large park) and along the Isar river banks.

traveller1959,

Thanks ..... would either of those be easy to find, if i asked the hotel? I think i'm at the Arabella Grand Hotel.

Thanks,
Hari

Yes the river twists thru the city and the huge Englischer Gardens dominates the city's easter part.

Your hotel probably won't be far from either.

by looking at the map on the hotel web site the large green area along the river must be Englischer Gartens i would think - if not some other huge park that seems very close to where your hotel is.

Don't be surprised if you see some nude people lying around in the Englischer Garten.

If it's a sunny day you will - most are not much to look at - fat old men IME or saggy old women but at times they are right along the paths

so for a different jogging experience tiptoe thru the nudes.

Thanks for all the responses! Yup...that will be a new running experience, indeed!

Don`t catch a cold while running nude. Itīs awfully cold in Munich right now, so Iīve heared.

Thanks for all your inputs .... the English Gardens were fantastic!!! highly recommend it to anyone wanting to take in a run during their Munich visit ........

were there 'naturalists' in the gardens or perhaps the weather was foul?

HariS Sep 19th, 2007 09:00 PM

Hi! Only ran early in the mornings .... perhaps too early in the day for the naturalists (cool weather too). No didn't rain the entire time, except for tuesday (i was leaving that day, anyways).

But, beautiful well groomed running trails .... a few runners and walkers every now and again!
