running in Paris
I will be in Paris for a week in July and would like to keep up my running while I am there. I am staying in the 6th (Saint Germain des Pres). Does anyone have suggestions for runs (with lengths if possible). I prefer a park-like area to the streets, so that there would not be so much stopping due to traffic. I heard that the Luxembourg Gardens would be a good option. Can anyone recommend a particular path and how to gauge distance?

When in Paris I run every day around the Luxembourg Gardens. However in terms of distance... it is not a huge space... a lovely space yes, but not masses of acreage! I usually gadge my runs by time and I spend about 30 minutes running the perimeter several times. It's a nice, scenic and safe place to run, and is generally free from some of the car fumes you find if you run say, along the Seine. I like to go early in the day, when there are other groups of runners in the park. Oh Enjoy... I am soooo envious!

The article at the below-listed link describes some Paris runs with mileage.
www.runnersworld.com/onthroad/paris.html

I, also, prefer to run in the Luxembourg Gardens. It's beautiful, and there are usually other runners there in the mornings. As Thrya does, I usually gauge my runs by time.

Why not check out to see what the local hash house harriers are up to? They may be doing one of their runs while you're visiting and they always welcome visitors--plus it would give you a chance to meet some expat locals...
BTilke
