Stohrer's baguettes are terrific, because they have les quignons - pointy ends that you rip off and eat while walking home...

If Paris is the best people-watching city on the planet, rue Montorgueil is among the very best spots in Paris for people-watching. Plunk yourself down in an outdoor table in any one of the cafés, and you've got street theater for as long as you're sitting there. Not only do you not have the noise and pollution of cars/truks/buses, but the people passing by are overwhelmingly locals on their way to work, shopping, and doing the things that they do. I stayed in the Hotel Victoires Opéra a while back -- great location (though otherwise plain for a 4*).

Absolutely DonT. As I mentioned above, I also particularly liked going there at 7:30AM as the shops were opening and watch the street come awake.
