Rue de la Reine Blanche/ 13th
 

I will be staying in the 13th on rue de la Reine Blanche in June and was wondering if anyone has stayed in this area. I will be with my two girls, and want to know if there are any early morning cafes and also food stores in the area and general info.

I stayed right raound the corner from you on Blvd. St. Marcel. There are more good restaurants within an easy walk from you than you can cover: Le Petit Marguery, l'Ourcine, Avant-Gout, Le Refuge du Passé, Marty, Anacreon, Au Petit Cahoua, just to name a few. There is a large café on the corner of Gobelins and St. Marcel. You are literally just across the street from the 5th arrondissement and a short stroll(about 500 yds.) up to the famous rue Mouffetard market street, and the public transportation is excellent with a metro stop right on the corner and several good bus lines.

I walked from the 5th to the edge of the 13th where Laidback describes. It's a nice area and like a true neighborhood. I did stay on the other side of the 13th in Chinatown and didn't like it there. No, you won't have any problems finding cafes and restaurants at all.

It's a great location. The neighbourhood is quiet and residential, nearby are two beautiful boulevards, Port-Royal (which holds a market along Val de Grâce each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) and Arago, and a lovely park, Square René LeGall.
A good chocolate shop on boulevard Port-Royal is Jadis et Gourmande, at mumber 88, and there's also the large August Blanqui market on boulevard Blanqui near place d'Italie on Thursday, Friday and Sunday.

Thank Keren. I appreciate your feedback. Do you have any recommendation for things to do with my girls. I know we will do the normal things, Eiffel Tower, Tullieres gardens, montmartre etc. But I was wondering if there will be anything going on the last week of June that would be fun to do? Of course Paris is always fun, but I've only been there once before, so any tips suggetions would be great!

If you are there on June 21 then you will catch the Fête de la Musique, Europe's international music day (http://www.fetedelamusique.culture.fr/index_flash.php) which has become a big event in France.

Expect open-air concerts, musicians and bands playing all over Paris (and the rest of the country), in the streets, in parks and bars, playing all types of music, from jazz to classical to reggae to punk rock, played by amateurs or professionals, talented or tone-deaf.

The city council usually organises some large-scale free concerts at various venues around Paris (expect crowds) but the most fun is often to be had in the smaller, less central neighbourhoods where the atmosphere is festive and the party often goes on late into the night.
