Royal Horseguards Hotel - London

Thank you for your replies and help on hotels in Paris. My wife and I will be staying at the Relais Bosquet and your comments have been very helpful in reaching our decision. We would appreciate your further comments on the Royal Horseguards Hotel in London. We were qouted a rate of $442 for four nights, including breakfast with $77 additional in taxes.

There's quite a bit of info re Royal Houseguards London from late winter or early spring. As a result of those postings we booked a room there for our 4 day stay in May. It was wonderful! Like walking into a set for Masterpiece Theatre -- and the period piece movie they were filming outside the hotel added to that first impression. Our room was unbelievably large --- sitting area with fireplace and sofa, bed area with desk (look for blowdryer discretely tucked into desk drawer). Bath had heated towel rack & magnifying mirror for shaving/makeup & lovely soaps. Room safe; small frig for your own milk or soda or beer; supply of instant coffee (not bad) and tea.
R Only time we used concerige(sp?) was to book taxi for early train - professional, very pleasant & helpful. Desk was always pleasant. Plane was 3 hrs late; room was ready for us when we finally arrived at noon. Most pleasant experience & many thanks to board members who recommended it.
Can walk to footbridge that takes you over to Eye, easy walk up to British Museum & Covent Garden area or St. James park in other direction.

That's a good deal for the Royal Horseguards. If you don't mind my asking how you got this deal? I'm also looking at staying at this hotel.

Too good to be true. I'm sorry for the misinformation. The rate is pounds, not dollars, though I still think it's a good rate. Again 442 pounds for four nights.

Mialow: I booked through Londontown.com

Peter did you get this quote by calling on thru an e-mail. I tried londontown.com and got a much higher rate.

Kfetcher: I got this rate on the londontown.com website. I just rechecked it and it is correct. 442.56 pounds for 4 nights, including breakfast for 2, 77.45 pounds tax additional, arrival October 30.

I am a big fan of this hotel for two reasons:

1. I found the location to be absolutely wonderful.

2. After leaving the hotel for a Cruise out of Southampton, I discouvered I was missing 2 earrings. Not even a pair, but 1/2 of 2 different pairs. Not valuable, but still . . . When I returned home a couple of weeks later I emailed the hotel, told them when I was there and what room we were in and asked if they found my jewelry. They had and it was returned to me in the States with a lovely note from Head of Housekeeping. Now there's a classy hotel!

I got this Hotel on a Priceline bid of $65.00+VAT for Seven nights last Feb.I could not have been happier with my stay. It's located in a great location, you can walk to the theatre district,Soho, and the Houses of Parliament with ease. The rooms are very large by London standards with the bathroom alone bigger than some of the hotel rooms that I've stayed in on previous trips.
Highly recommended

How close is the nearest tube stop and/or bus line to the Royal Horseguards Hotel? Thanks!

anna_k Jul 6th, 2003 07:45 PM

My husband and I stayed at the Royal Horseguards over Memorial Day weekend. The nearest Tube stop is Embankment it's only a few blocks away - 300 yards or so - probably a 3 minute walk. Our room was large and we were very pleased with our stay. The hotel is located in a quiet area.
