Rovinj Accomodations Assistance.
Hello!
I am 2orking on my Croatia trip for this fall and am looking for accomodations in Rovinj. I would perfer to be in the old city, but... I did a seach on the board and found lots of recommenations for the Hotel Adriatic. However, it appears to be sold out for my dates. (2 nights starting 18 Sept) Any other suggestions? We are probably aiming for something more along the "budget" lines. I have seen the Villa Angelo d'Oro recommended but at over $200 a night it's a little rich for my taste. I have thought about just showing up and trying for a Sobe? What are your thoughts on that? Thanks! |
That first sentence should read "working" not "2orking" SORRY!
|
We just showed up and looked for a room. We first stayed in a very tiny studio deep in old town. Then we moved to a spacious hotel room over by the marina.
We had much better luck by the marina, which I thought was nicer than being in "old town" which was rather dark (I don't know if you consider the marina still in old town). There are a couple of restaurants along the marina that have very nice rooms for reasonable prices (70 euros w/breakfast). There are also several travel agencies by the bus station that can help you. Sorry I don't have the name of where we stayed. That receipt is lost forever. |
Thanks,
That at leaves give me hope on my just "show up and look" idea. I think it should be OK. I looked on rovinj.info and there were what seemed like hundreds of "sobe" type places. I can't imagine they wll all be full unless there is some fesitval or something (Guess I better check that!) |
I have just booked 2 nights at Vila Lili in Rovinj. http://www.hotel-vilalili.hr/index_en.htm. In June 2007, we're paying @ 52 Euro for a double per night. Looks to be charming.
|
is this 52 euro per person per night?
|
Gina,
Thanks! I have managed to get in touch with the Hotel Adratic. They sent me one quote but it was for a double bed. While I love my mother I draw the line at sleeping in the same bed so I have sent them a response to see what they can do. The place you recommend appears to have the same problem... double beds. I am sure I will come up with something. |
At Vila-Lili it is 52Euro per night (for 2 people). They have twins beds for us.
|
Gina,
Thanks. I will send them an email. Can't explain why but Adratic is not really doing it for me... (Perhaps because ALL they have avaialbe is non-sea view, but I can book a Sea view on Expedia for A LOT more... just makes me wonder what's going on there) |
Oh Carol,
Life is so unfair – we stayed last year at Hotel Adriatic, and had to take a room without a sea view because that was the only one where they could offer a double bed. We liked it there, the location was great, there was a/c in the room and the breakfast was good. I don’t know how old is your mother, and where you’re coming from, but please keep in mind that the hotel does not have an elevator. We were on the 3rd floor (which is like a 4th American floor). Sorry I can’t recommend something else; the only other place we considered was Villa Valdibora (we wanted to be in the old town, and I’m happy we did) http://www.valdibora.com/map_en.htm Here is another links you might find useful: http://www.rovinj.info/eng/private/index.asp You will love Rovinj; try to stay in the old town. The sunset from the pier is spectacular! |
Thanks wlbox for asking if it was per person or per room. I went back and re-read my emails and it was confusing, so I inquired again last night. It is per person! I think we'll still stay there as they've been very helpful in emails and it looks great. The prices listed on their web site are per person then since it matches up to what we're paying on the dates. The other places we looked into did not have air-conditioning. Not sure if we would need it during June but we wanted it to be available. It is at Vili Lili. Hope this helps.

Well I "think" I have booked a place. Porta Antica http://www.portaantica.com/ENG/index.asp
I hopefully have booked an apartment with Sea View and Terrace for 140 Euros for both nights. Looks reasonable and I think it will work well. Thanks for the warning on stairs. My mother is in great shape which is one reason I figure now is a good time to do Croatia. This doesn't sound like a good country to do if she becomes "unsteady" in the past. (Plus she travels with her own personal porter... that's right ME!) |
we will be staying in Rovinj for two nights in early May. I used Trip Advisor and booked our stay at the Hotel Family Kis. 60 euros including breakfast. they do not have a website, but I do have their email address.
|
Does anyone have an email address of website for Hotel Family Kis?
|
|
Neno, stop spamming the travel sites with your accommodation and unlicensed taxi.
|
Actually the real/official name is Vila Kristina...but over the time the folks renamed it to Hotel Family Kis.That is the reason why it was hard to find it.
|
We were there in May and just happened on a family owned pension about half a block from the ocean. It was 42 euros a night, breakfast was 5 euros, but we walked to the marina each morning and had breakfast at one of the places that had patio outdoor seating (all of them). Our only problem was that because it was still about 2 weeks before the "season" started, the old town shops and galleries were mostly closed. The schlocky tourist shops were open and we had fun, but it got old after a day. We did daytrips thereafter and had a great time.

Thanks for the info on Hotel Kristina. I thought people were saying this hotel was in old town, but it seems it's not. Do you know how long it takes to walk to old town and the marina? |
Vila Kristina (Hotel Family Kis) is about a 10-15 minute walk to the old town (depending on how fast you walk) and less than 10 minutes to the water. We stayed there last month, it is very nice. There is a Konzum market down the road.
I think the distance is approximately 600-700 meters from the center of the old town. |
