rotterdam to amsterdam transportation

Need tips on travel from cruise port in Rotterdam to hotels in Amsterdam. Also any hotel recommendations in Amsterdam.

What's your expense account like - obviously private driver would be best otherwise you go to Rrrrrrrrotterdam Central Station (C.S.) and catch high-speed trains to Amsterdam stations and take taxi or trams from there. Take taxi from Rrrrrrrrrotterdam cruise port to train station or cruise offered shuttle.

Rrrrrroterdam is a neat city too - not your proverbial old-looking Dutch city but one with a rainbow of architecture - much of it being rebuilt from WW2 war rubble and now rather striking in many ways. Consider staying one night here IMO. Menachem may agree - Rrrrrrroterdam Rrrrrrocks!

Does it pay to book those Fyra or whatever high-speed trains Rotterdam to Amsterdam in advance or about as cheap just buying at station - do they still offer Daag Retour tickets - day return for round trips at slight discount? check www.ns.nl Dutch railways for info and booking online.

Fyra doesn't exist any more, and nor to dagretour tickets. They went out with the introduction of the OV chip.

So Hetismij in my efforts to keep current with train fares - does the OV chip card automatically give a discount for return tickets? Dank u wel!

hetismij2 Jun 13th, 2018 11:02 AM

No it doesn't. You can only buy two singles. With the OV chipcard you check in at the start of your journey and out again at the end of it, then doe the same to return. Failing to check out will result in paying the maximum fare €25,39. Failing to check in will get you a fine.

Dank u wel. No-brainer like things should be!
