Rothenburg o.d.T. lodging

We plan to be in Rothenburg in May and are considering a bed and breakfast run by Frau Karin Weiss. Has anyone stayed in a zimmer frei such as this? Any comments on comfort, noise levels, etc. compared to a regular hotel?

The Haus Karin is an excellent choice. An easy short walk to the Altstadt, friendly German hosts who go out of their way to be of assistance, a spotlessly clean house located in a quiet neighborhood, great breakfast, free transport to and from the train station (if necessary) - all for the paltry sum of 22 Euro per person. How can you go wrong? You can't... Give my regards to the Weiss family... Ben

Klouisec - Listen to BavariaBen's recommendation. Check out his website to learn more about the Zimmer Frei experience. It's what makes Germany my favorite European destination. I've never stayed at that particular place, but have heard others rave about it too. You won't get anything near that price staying at an impersonal hotel.

I am planning on staying with the Weiss family in July and have no doubts it will be a pleasant experience from all that I have read. When u look at how much we all will spend at hotels, the Weiss B&B is a very reasonable alternative and the way she takes care of her guests is very admirable. Very good old-fashioned friendliness!

I have stayed at Karin's and it is excellent for all the reasons given above. Karin is a delightful lady.
