Rothenburg Hotels

We will be travelling with a 6 month old boy, staying 3 nights in Rothenburg. Can anyone recommend good hotels in Rothenburg that are child friendly (has lifts). We want to stay in places with a Medieval character.

We are currently tossing up between Hotel Klosterstuble, Hotel Gotisches Haus & Hotel-Garni Hornburg. So any opinions on these three would be really helpful.

Thanks.

I would ask very specifically about an elevator - which you typically don't find in the oldest buildings.

I will be there next month but would not recommend the place we are staying for your needs. Your best bet will be to check out Trip Advisor for family hotels.

We have always stayed at the Roter Hahn Hotel which is only a block from the main square, has a lift, and parts of which were built in the 14th century. May not be what you are looking for but take a look.

A few years ago we stayed several nights at Hotel Zur Sonne, just around the corner from the central square. Very relaxed and welcoming staff who spoke English, good breakfasts and a spacious super-clean family room.

Hornburg is nice but doesn't have lift...

We stayed at the Hotel Garni Kreuzerhof with our children a couple of years ago. Though not the full medieval character you're seeking, the hotel was extremely family-friendly and in an excellent location. The breakfast was quite good, as we recall.

We have stayed at the HOTEL REICHS KUCHENMEISTER a few times. Ask for the old building. It is located next to St. Jacobs Church, tourist office and a block from main square. Easy to get back to if you need to return to the hotel during the day. Great restaurant. They should have a web site. It has a lift....small, but a lift to get upstairs.

MARKUSTURM HOTEL also good. It is built into one of the towers and on many of the etchings of the town. Old world charm, good location.

I loved my stay at the Markstrum. Very large room with a wooden canopied bed and a huge bathroom! A wall of built-in closets in the bedroom and a nice sitting area.

Food was very good in the restaurant.

But, I don't recall them having an elevator. Worth an email to verify.
