Rosetta Hotel in Perugia

Has anyone stayed at this hotel? If so, can you let me know your impression? If there's another hotel in center of town, pass it on. How did you find the town? Any good restaurants etc. we shouldn't miss. We'll only be there for four days. We will be driving over there after a few days in Siena. Thanks.

I haven't stayed at the Rosetta, but reviews of the hotel and its restaurant are generally positive.

In Perugia, I would recommed Da Cesarino for very good Umbrian cooking. I had lunch there, and it seemed to be frequented almost exclusively by local businesspeople.

You didn't ask and perhaps I shouldn't volunteer, but four days seems like a long time to spend in Perugia, unless you plan to take day trips from there.

And if you're taking day trips, consider Spello -- tiny, almost unspoiled, quite a few good restaurants, built of the same rose-coloured stone as Assisi -- where you can stay in the lovely four-star Palazzo Bocci for considerably less than a four-star hotel would cost you in Perugia (I don't remember whether Rosetta is three- or four-star).

We had a lovely stay at the Rosetta many years ago... I still recall a very fine dinner in the hotel restaurant.

I second the recommendation for Spello.

Two more hotels in the center are:

Locanda della Posta (4 star):

or the same hotel on the italyby.com website:

Hotel Fortuna (3 star):

There are quite a few 2 star hotels in the centro, as well. I would agree with Eloise that four days is more than enough time in Perugia, unless you're planning to do day trips from there.

We have stayed at the Rosetta and found the location to be perfect.
