Rooms in Sorrento & Rome

Hello,
I am hoping to get some feedback on inexpensive places to stay in Sorrento and Rome. We are in Italy for 5 weeks house sitting in Verona but want to go south for some site seeing. I have looked at Blue Village outside of Sorrento for June 23-26 and Camping Fabulous village in Rome for Jun 26-30. I will be traveling with my 9 year old son, so these places look inexpensive and have some added kid features. If anyone has had any experience with either of these or if you have any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it. I want to make sure we are safe and keep a low budget so we can spend our $ on activities and food. Thank you for your assistance.

We stayed in a deluxe hostel ln Sorrento http://www.ulissedeluxe.com lt was very clean & safe, like a 3*hotel just off the main street. We booked it with hostels.com. You may find similar in ROME,on that site.

It doesn't appear either of your camping sites are well located for transportation, especially the one outside Rome. Will you have a car? Is your goal just to camp or do you want to see Rome and Sorrento?

Hi Kelly, do you want to stay in Sorrento or even nearby? What is your budget? Maybe I can suggest you a suitable solution.

Villa Oriana http://www.villaoriana.it is not expensive and then it really represents a deep dive into south Italian culture thanks to the warm welcome of D'Esposito Family.

As for Rome, Hotel Borromeo http://www.hotelborromeo.com is a great cost effective hotel in via Cavour, near the train station and the historical centre. Ideal for travels with children.

What is your budget per night? Some of the hotels being suggested are over 100€ per night and that doesn't seem to be your budget at all. We can make better suggestions if you state what you are willing to spend.

Sorry I have not responded. Been out of internet touch. I was hoping to spend $50 or around 40 euros per night. 100 euros is more than I want to spend but if it is a safety issue or a time issue (like walking 10 miles) then I'll get it sorted out. We are there to see the sites. In Rome the Vatican and the Coliseum and anything else we shouldn't miss on our first trip and in Sorrento we want to go to the island of Capri and just be on the coast. The campgrounds looked fun for a child with the pools and slides so I thought that might be a good idea, however, I don't want to be to far from the center of things due to the fact that we will be using public transportation. Thank you all for you input.

@Maltesec I will dream of those hotels. Not likely that I will get to stay in them :)

Public transport in and out of Rome is awful. I know because we did it on our last trip. Never again! In the centre of Rome are lots of monasteries where you can stay cheaply. You don't have to be catholic.

www.monasterystays.com

Is also possible to book directly with monasteries and save a little bit. If you google it you will, get lots of options.

Sorry, I just communicated my experience. Thank you for specifying your budget, have a nice trip.

Maltesec, no need to apologize those look amazing. I will have to save that for another trip. Thank you for sharing ;)

Use booking.com/rome to get started. Once you enter your dates, there will be filters in the left column you can check. Such as 'how much you want to pay'. Or 'the district'. Or 'how many stars a hotel has'.

Same with Sorrento. booking.com/sorrento

I will be in that area 7/21-24 w/a 12yo and looking for the same setup. Did you get any good leads.
