Room with a terrific view in Positano for under $250?

I would appreciate your suggestions for a room with a terrace and great sea and town views for $250 or less! Asking a lot, I know. A couple of years ago we stayed at Villa Rosa, but they only have a room with "partial sea view" left. We shall be in Positano for the first week in June and are having a hard time finding somewhere affordable. Many thanks for your thoughts.

You could try renting a villa. We used www.summerinitaly.com in Sept 2007 and were very happy.

Have you tried searching at venere.com? They have a pretty decent inventory of hotels in Positano, and I saw several in your price range (but did not click through to see which ones had the best view).

Try the Hotel Savoia www.savoiapositano.it and see if they have a room on the front of the hotel with a balcony available. We stayed in it a few years ago and almost couldn't stop looking out of the window and leaning over the balcony.

Try Residence Alcione, right next door to Villa Rosa.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel California in September and had an amazing view from our balcony. The hotel is in a good location and is in your price range.

Also check out the reviews on Trip Advisor. They are pretty accurate.

We loved the Hotel Posa Posa.

Our room had a large terrace and, of course, that wonderful view. We were there in the off season, and they had very good special offers.

Another vote for Villa La Tartana which is the "sister" property to Villa Rosa. We had a room at the top floor and it was worth the climb up the stairs to get there.

We also stayed at Hotel California in Sept
2007. enjoyed very much. Here is the view you get
if you can get a room facing the water. I think we had room
66.

jamikins: Thanks for your suggestion. I ended up booking Villa Faustina C through Summer in Italy. It looks wonderful. We were able to rent for 5 nights - rather than the usual 7 - which was exactly what we wanted.

Hi Susan - I stayed at the Domina Royal Hotel, and had a room with a balcony, with lovely town and ocean views. I found it quite by accident, but I'd go back.
