Hotel or apartment (prefer hotel but apartment might be a better value). Two boys (ages 5 and 8). We don't want to rent a car. Would like easy access to train stations in case we want to daytrip to Naples. Thoughts? We'd be going in April. Thanks.

Rates can be date-dependent, so you need to say when you'd be there. Also, some hotels/B&Bs offer a deal for multiple nights (4 for the price of 3, etc.), so you need to say how many nights.
Or you can search on booking.com and set your dates, budget, and number of beds... and come back if you have questions about specific properties, locations, etc.
I wouldn't choose to stay near Termini unless I was making several day trips by train. For just one excursion, I'd rather stay in a nicer area and use taxis if necessary.
