Rome Wine Tour

After a week in Tuscany, we are thinking of spending part of our last night(only day)in Rome on the 3 Millenia Wine tour. I know, we"ve just come from the best wine country in Italy yet we choose Rome for a wine tour! Crazy as it seems, they offer a 2 hour tour of 3-6 enoteca in the Campo dei Fiore/Piazza Navona section with wine tasting, snacks and I hope interesting conversation from 5 to 7:30 which always has felt like a dead time waiting for a place to open to have our last dinner in Italy. Does this make any sense? Has anyone tried this or other tours like it in Rome? Hoping someone has some experience mwith this tour. Tell me what you think, please!

A little shy about this idea, though. I've been reading reports for a few years and just atarted to ask quesrions.

I just tried to find the website for this tour. You listed info@...,which is an e-mail address rather than a web address. I tried www.threemillenia.com and nothing came up. Could you verify the address for the website,please,I'd like to check it out?

"millennia" has 2 'n's in it - www.threemillennia.com works. I agree, it sounds fun - my only slight concern would be whether it might be pitched at too low a level if you are already wine buffs. The phrase "you will also be able to impress your friends back home with your knowledge of grapes, production methods, paring, etc" is why I am concerned.

That site looks pretty good. Nice way to spend some time prior to dinner.
Those glasses must be small or you would get skunked!

However, for those of us who are cheapskates, I'd sure like to be able to find some places with an English speaking staff that would let you do a mini-tasting for free.

2.5 -3 hr of wine tasting for 30E is not at all bad.

degas, I'm with you. I didn't pay anything in Tuscany, and I did a lot of tasting -- also did my share of buying. Even in Montalcino for the Brunellos -- I wasn't charged, and was a little surprised. Certainly didn't bother me. ((b))

I can hardly believe that I will be in Rome in less than 2 months!

Just did the Three Millennia wine tour, was fun and learned a lot, averages 2 glasses per stop and I think there are three or four wine bars on the tour. Daphne, the guide, is great and knows a lot about Italian wines.

Celestina- When did you take this wine tour? I've seen several posts you've placed about this company,but nothing about hotel or anything else? Where did you stay?

Hi MassageDiva, I am staying with friends on Via Germanico. I've only done these couple of tours so far, but they have been so nice, and I am here alone so it's great to be looked after so well. One of the stops on the wine tour was Il Bicchiere Di Mastai on Via del Banchi Nuovi, 52, and they offered some really fantastic wine! I hear they also have a great restaurant across the street. Ask for Fabio, chef/owner, or Guiseppe in the wine bar.
