Rome - where to stay?
 

We are looking to rent an apartment in Rome for 4 days next Spring. We will be 2 adults and 2 teens and feel that since Rome is our last stop byt hen we will all need our space so an apartment seems teh best bet.

I had wanted to stay around Piazza Navona or the Pantheon but not that many apartments there.

Many seem to be in Trastevera - is that a very out of the way area? About how far a walk to the Pantheon area?

Can anyone recommend apartments or companies that they used to rent through?

If you go to

you will find a list of agencies that rent apartments in Rome.

You can also search here for <Rome apartment> (without the carets); there are dozens of trip reports by people who rented apartments in Rome. (There are also reports on individual apartments on slowtrav.)

I don't know where you've looked until now, but it seems to me from surfing the sites that there are dozens and dozens of apartments in the Piazza Navona/Pantheon/Campo de Fiori area.

Depending on the time of your trip, you may find that some apartments will only be rented for a full week.

Trastevere is just across the Tiber. If your apartment is close to the Tiber, from the Trastevere side of the Ponte Sisto (a pedestrians only bridge), you will be at Campo de Fiori in less than 5 minutes, at the Pantheon in another 5, and at Piazza Navona in 5 to 10 minutes more.

Have you looked at these 50+ apartments in the Piazza Navona and Pantheon area???

Yes, Bardo - I did check there and the majority of those are 1 bedrooms which are not what I need, and the few that I did like were unavailable for my dates.

I have had success using vrbo.com and cyberrentals.com on various trips...have never had any problems with either company & the apartments were as described.

Have you looked at www.palazzo-olivia.it?

We loved as have a number of Fodorites. Great location, nice apartments and they'll rent for 4 days.

Well, we are renting an apartment with 2 adults and 2 teens at end of June in Campo dei Fiori area. I'll let you know how it is. I was particular about having TWO beds for the kids - not a pull out sofa or something. We rented through Underground Viaggi di Om Tour.

Donnapg: If we'd had only 4 in our group, I would have taken this apartment in a heartbeat! You might want to take a peek. This is my 3rd trip to Roma. In 2003, we stayed at a beautiful hotel (del Senato) near the <b>Pantheon</b>, and I just Loved the area.

Wow Thanks LuLuG - That apartment is amazing and the 2 twin beds in the second bedroom is just what I need.

Now to see if it is available.

A bunch od the ones I have liked the last few days are either unavailable or have a weekly minimum.

Let's hope this one is better.

I haven;t stayed there yet, though. So, who knows if it's any good!

My family of 5 stayed in an apartment on Properzio street near the Vatican. It was perfect! Two separate bedrooms; one with queen bed and a single; the other with two single beds. Excellent separate air conditioners. Google: independent apartment properzio rome. It was a couple of summers ago that we paid 150E per night for 5 nights.

We stayed at this fantastic apartment when we visited Rome for the first time this March. 2 + bedrooms, lots of privacy, and a terrace with a view of the Colosseum. It is as nice as the description sounds. The owners are also great, and Pietro is an excellent tour guide. I would recommend it without hesitation! http://www.vrbo.com/32035
