Ditto lobo mau's words.

When accosted in Rome some years ago and knowing virtually nothing of the language, I yelled F*** Off for want of anything better to come to mind at short notice - and it worked. Not very ladylike, but I think it was the general offensive, both facially and verbal, which had the general desired effect.

Good luck on your next trip to Rome!

Andare (to go) conjugated:

Singlular:
I = (io) vado
You familiar =(tu) vai
He/She = (lui/lei) va

Plural:
We =(noi) andiamo
You formal = (voi) andate
They (loro) vanno

The preceding conujugation of andare is the present indicative, not the imperative.

Assuming that you want to command somebody to go, and not tell them that they already are going, the imperative for you (familiar) is vai or va' and for you (formal) is vada.

The Lei form of the imperative is the same as the present subjunctive (il congiuntivo presente), but the less said about the subjunctive, the better!

"get lost you pack of gypsies!!"

They are so horrified to be called that, that they run screaming in terror for the hills.

(Sorry, couldn't resist, I am sure most of you are familar with not using the "G" word on this board!)
