Rome weather around 15th Sept. 2010
 

A little help. I know we can’t predict what the weather is going to be like towards the middle of Sept., but maybe someone who is reading this goes in Sept or lives in Rome.

Here we go… Me and seven of my friends are arriving in Rome, Italy on 15 Sept. We are currently renting out an apartment for four days with no A/C. The current temperature. In Rome is 90 digress Fahrenheit and 70 in the evening, sounds nice at night, but I heard you can’t leave the windows open because we will be eaten alive by mosquitoes. Two of my friends sweat just thinking about heat.

Do they even have mosquitoes in Sept. when the weather is 70 at night?

We were there this time last year and it was beautiful! Around 82-85 and sunny each day. It was cooler at night. I brought a light cardigan with me at night.
I don't remember mosquitoes but that doesn't mean they are not there.

Ask about fans fr the apt.

Bring mosquito repellent.

Leave the windows open.

I don't want to scare you but it can be beastly hot in Rome at that time. If you are heat averse, you might want to think about changing apartments or, at least, seeing about paying a supplement for a small a/c.

Be sure to have plenty of mosquito coils on hand and light them at dusk. (I would bring them with me, or plan to buy on arrival; yes, I am aware of some reports of health implications)

The electric mosquito devices do not work so well, in my opinion.

We were in Rome last september(in a hotel without air conditioning or fan).
1)Temperature was relatively high during the day,optimal at night.
2)No mosquitoes at all but of course,both weather and mosquitoes are unpredictable.

What is a mosquito coil? (We just use old fashioned screens built into the windows.) Are they for outdoor use?

Mosquito coil is very popular in parts of Asia, but you can also find them in the US and in Italy; they work very well, but they do emit a small amount of smoke. They've never bothered me and I much prefer using them to the alternative. One year in Florence, in early October, I foolishly left the windows of my hotel room open (no screens). My face was so bitten up that I looked as if I had measles!

Sorry--they are for indoor and outdoor use. I burn them in my room. The entire coil will burn over the course of a night, leaving a ring of ash behind. The coils come with a little metal stand that you prop them up on before lighting...
