Not sure why you are limiting yourself to 2 hotels in a city with hundreds.

Shop all the sites (otel.com, hotels.com, expedia and travelocity) and expand your range of hotels. I have stayed in quite a few hotels in Rome and enjoyed most of them. Why the narrow list with so many other choices?

list is not narrow....as you see prior to your comment, I asked for recommendations in teh $150EUR to $200EUR range....I konw there are hundreds which is why I would prefer recommendations rather then looking at all 100 :)

I have enjoyed Capo d'Africa (4 stays), Sofitel Roma near Via Veneto, Albergo Del Senato (much busier area).

Do you have Starwood points? The Westin Excelsior is lovely. And so is the Marriott Grand Flora if you have Marriott points.

I also really enjoyed my 5 stays at the delle Minerve but that has become very pricey of late.

For value, Albergo Cesari near the Pantheon and the Daphne properties can be good buys.

I have read good things about the San Anselmo but not stayed there. I prefer quieter areas of Rome so have been staying off Via Veneto and near the Borghese and Colosseum the last few trips.
