Personally, I'd spend more time in Rome. Unless you're going in August.

mnkatie - is this real question, or a fun quiz? If you want a real answer, and you can't be persuaded to be sensible I agree with Venice one day, Rome two, though both are horribly short.
At dinner in Rome one night, we met a couple from mexico who had "done" Rome in a day, all except the vatican and St. Peters, which they were leaving til the next morning. Unfortunately, the next morning happened to be easter monday, when the vatican was shut! THeir disappointment was palpable, despite the fact that they had walked about 10 miles seeing rome on the day we met them. WHat they will rememer of Rome [or paris, madrid, BCN etc. etc. which they were planning to do in the same fashion] I can't imagine. Our suggestion that they just wander round and enjoy themselves was met with incomprehension.perhaps they understand now!

annhig-I cringe when I hear about tourists thinking they've "done" Rome in one, two or even three days.No wonder they don't love it,they're completely exhausted!
