Rome; Vicolo dell Bollo - Via Bollo
 

Hi there...
I am researching an apt and the info I have is that it's either on Via Bollo or I think it's Vicolo dell Bollo. When I try to do a search on Via Bollo I get Vicolo dell Bollo. I've read the apt is v near Campo dei Fiori.

My question is this: for those of you v familiar w Campo dei Fiori, is this a quiet street? I know that Campo is bustling so it's imp that if I stay in the area that I find an apt on a quiet street.

Also if anyone is familiar w this can you share some insight as to how far the Campo's open market is as well?

You are far enough from Campo dei Fiori that the noise from it would not bother you. I was just in that area and I believe it is one of the quiet, alley- size streets. You should not get any street noise from the busy Corso Vittorio Emanuele either.

Many thanks for your quick response. How far then is it to walk to the Campo open mkt or a market where I could buy breakfast foods? Appreciate any insight you can offer. Thx.

what kind of breakfast food are you looking for, mainly fruit I assume? The market is literally a 5 minute walk from there.

The street was not at all quiet. Motorcycles/scooters with no mufflers went up and down it all night, and it was a busy pedestrian thoroughfare.

We paid for five days in advance. We stayed only one night because: 1) the room was on the ground floor, with bars on the (very small) window, and the people passing by just outside made it too noisy to keep the window open if we wanted to sleep, and was noisy even with the window and shutter closed 2) We really wanted to keep the window open because the mildew smell in the room was overpowering otherwise. There were large mildew stains on the walls. 3) the shower drain was very slow, making it almost impossible to shower without turning the water off half way through 4) There were cigarette burns on the bedsheets. 5) We asked for another room within half an hour of our arrival, but were told no one could come let us in to one of the others until 9:00 the next morning. When we called the next morning, we were told no one could come until 10:00 or 10:30. Since we had a reserved, pre-paid tour scheduled, this was not possible for us. They originally offered to refund less than one night's stay -- keeping hundreds of euros as an "early cancellation fee". After a series of complaints and e-mails they promised to refund more, keeping "only" one night's stay as a cancellation fee, but almost two months later they haven't done that either. There are much nicer places nearby for the same price. Stay away.
