I am going to Italy October 29-November 9. What is the weather like at that time? What about hotels in Rome, Florence and Venice? I am looking for Superior First Class. Any recommendations? Also, has anyone used AAA to book their trips? How are their recommendations on hotels and tours?

Minerve is Rome, perhaps. Bonvecchiati in Venice. Maybe Gulefo Bianco in Florence (I have never actually set foot in this place). In all three cases, there are steps up from those, if you want to pay the big bucks.

I don't know anything about AAA - - in general, this website caters to those who want help (from "us&quot gaining the confidence to do it without an "agency".

thanks for the info....I will check out the hotels. Thought AAA would be a benefit on booking tours in advance and would help in the process of a 'first-timer' in Europe.

I actually HAVE heard of Ameriacn Express as a resource for booking a tour in Venice. But never AAA.

Is this because they aren't any good at it or just not a very popular agency to book through? Would it be better to wait until I got to each city before booking a specific tour?

I have used my local AAA for booking cruises and also guided tours - I think they do help book independent trips but there is a fee for each service - so much for hotel booking, flights, etc. I really liked the woman I used to deal with at AAA but I came to the conclusion that the only reason I would want to work with her was when I wanted a tour or cruise - for independent travel I was better off doing it myself with the help of this board. I doubt that anyone you deal with at a AAA office would have the knowledge of local hotels and even tours that you will find on this board.
