Rome-Venice

Thank you in advance for any information you could post answering the following questions. We are a group of 15 spending 1 week in Rome and 1 week in Venice summer 2011. My questions are about transportation from the airport in Rome (FCO) to our apartment near the Vatican. While in Rome, is there a weekly bus/museum pass we could purchase and where should we do this.

also

Train from Rome to Venice - Mini Fare etc.- what is the best way to do get train transportation for such a large party?

also

While in Venice, what is best way to get from the train station to the place we're staying near the Jewish Ghetto-vaporetto etc.? Is there also a weekly vaporetto/museum pass and where is the best place to purchase this? and finally, what is the best transportation from Venice to the airport?

Without knowing your exact location in Venice, we can't advise on the best way to get there. . . might be boat, might be on foot.

The ghetto isn't far from Santa Lucia train station in historic Venice--maybe half a mile. You can walk it pretty easily with a carry-on size suitcase if you don't have physical problems. It just depends on your exact location in the ghetto area. What hotel is it?

I think the absolute best way to get between Venice and the airport is water taxi! Of course, it is also the most expensive, but it is like getting a scenic thrill ride along with basic transportation--and someone to help with your luggage.

Groups can get a discount on Trenitalia.

From FCO to Rome, I would price a few of the limo services. Most have small buses and should be able to transport a small group.

The shuttle bus that operates from the airport to Termini offers transfers for large groups.

Do you really need a Rome transport pass the entire week? You might be better off buying a 3 day BTI pass (11€) and a Roma Pass (25€). The Roma Pass also gives 3 days of transport along with free admission to two sites (Colosseum/Forum/Palantine count as one) and discounts after the free admissions.
