Rome v Milan???
 

Planning a surprise trip to Italy for partner (both in early 20's so would enjoy a buzzing nightlife but also appreciate history) ...can't make up my mind, shall we hit the shops in Milan or go sight-seeing in Rome??

The "obvious" answer would be Rome....but we don't know how addicted you and your partner are to shopping!<BR>Seriously, the first questions would be: How long a trip are you planning? What are you interests (besides shopping, of course)?

Thanks for your reply. Its only a short-break (4 days, 3 nights!) ...Rome does seem a rather obvious choice I suppose, but I was a little overwhelmed with the planning involved (that and a small element of laziness!). Nevertheless you've made up my mind (just needed that extra push) Cheers!

There is some pretty good shopping in Rome as well. Maybe not the selection of Milan but still a lot to choose from.

That would be a great help Elaine, could you e-mail me your Rome file pls. Any other recommendations? What's the night-life like in Rome? Also would you advise that I book tours/excursions etc in advance or once we get there??
