Susan,

I really enjoyed my day at Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este, although I went on my own. At Hadrian's, the visitor's office was all out of English guides, if you can believe it. So I just wandered on my own. I know having a guide, or at least something written, would have been much more informative! At Villa d'Este I just wandered too. The fountains were an absolute delight! I spent the whole day getting out there, wandering at both sites and returning.

I think your tour idea sounds great!

SeaUrchin & Dayle, thanks for the information, as I don't usually take a lot of tours. In the summer, this tour starts at 3:00 pm. It doesn't look as thought they offer it in the morning at that time of year. Not really a problem for me, I'm not a morning person anyway! And I'm not one who is worried if I don't see every knook and cranny, so I think I will go with the tour this time.

SeaUrchin... loved reading your trip here from 3/06. Life just keeps going on even with grouchy people on planes and lost luggage with a sense of humor. I believe you are the one who suggested a pink boa for October!

Thanks! Yes I did suggest a pink boa but the men don't seem to want to go along with that for some reason.

Persecuted for your tiny little feet!!!!!!!!!! Poor SeaUrchin.

Your catacomb/spore adventure had me rolling. You are SO funny and have such a way of telling a story, truly a gem.

I am so sorry about your Stigmata, and ashamed to admit that I am still laughing. These things happen to me you see, at the worst possible moments. I could totally relate.

SeaUrchin, I took a daytrip out to Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este during my first trip to Italy seven years ago. I was alone for a good portion of the trip and found this daytrip delightful. I am glad you got to see it. Didnít you love the outdoor baths at Hadrianís Villa????

I am so pleased I found your trip report. DH & I will stay in the same area you stayed and so far, Residenza Canali is in the lead for accommodations. We leave in 9 (sigh) months, lol. But we both know that time will fly by (kind of like your taxi en route to the airport!) And all the more time to plan and plan, read and read some more! One of the best parts, no doubt!

I have mapped out all your excellent dining recommendations. Only one question, did Ristaurante Tre Archi require anything more than casual clothing?

Best wishes SeaUrchin, and thanks for the great report.

Hi Tiff, glad you saw the humor and that "things" happen to you too! Thanks. I should read this again myself.

Try to deal with Stefano at Res. Canali, he is the most helpful.

All the restaurants were nicely casual, I wish I were back at my Witch Restaurant right now.
