Rome tour guide recommendations
Any suggestions on which tour guide(s) to use in Rome? Private or bus? We'll do the usual, ancient rome, vatican museum, St Peters & Sistene chapel, plus Tivioli gardens, Catacombs, Apian way. Any others we shouldn't miss? Thanks!

Hi Cody,
I have not traveled to Rome yet - we are going in July but have booked tours with Presto Tours - a private Vactacin City Tour and with Context Tours - http://www.contexttravel.com/index.php?sess=ct for a private tour of ancient Rome. I am using both of these companies based on recommendations from this website and then their prompt and easy communication in booking. Hope that helps, Dawn |
Grazie!! A friend recommended a local person who is a private guide there. The guide seems very eager to take the job however; I’m hesitant since he doesn't want to commit to a schedule until he meets us in Rome. I'd rather not leave things to the last minute so I appreciate these recommendations!

I cannot imagine that you will find a guide more qualified, more personable, and more reasonable in price than Francesca Caruso, who we, along with SandiTravelnut, hired for a tour in Rome last January. Francesca leads many of Rick Steves Rome tours, if that means anything to you. She will custom-design a tour or take you to wherever you want to visit; her English is fluent. She charges by the tour, not per person as the organized tours do.
