Rome to venice by rail, how soon can I book?
Hi, I'm considering taking Eurostar Italia from Roma Termini to Venise S.L. I tried to book it on Trenitalia.com, but the fare was not available for booking yet. I looked at fares in the near future, and 2nd class ran at about 44 euros. Is this fare typical of that route? I'll be travelling on March 24 (good friday) so I was wondering if it will cost more on that date. I know the Ryan Air flight would be cheaper, but with transfers to Ciampino and from Treviso it will cost about the same and take just as long. SO, how soon does Trenitalia let you make reservations? I'm wanting to take the evening direct train..I think its at 6:00pm or so. Thanks for your help!

You can't book your tickets online until you are 60 days or less from your travel date.

Hi JH,
You can purchase tickets as early as 60 days in advance. ((I)) |
For travel on Good Friday, I would recommend booking ahead, especially if you hope for a specific train on a holiday.

Good Friday is on April 14th this year.

I knew I would be traveling by train from Florence to Venice on Nov 25 but decided I'd get my ticket when I arrived in Florence - just didn't feel like dealing with the website. I intended to book an mid-morning train. Boy am I glad I didn't. When I arrived in Florence I found out about the scheduled 4 hour strike for that morning and booked a 2:30 departure. I had no problems but those with morning bookings were scrambling to re-book.
