Rome to Positano, Positano to Molise

Can someone tell me the best way to get from Rome to Positano and from Positano to Molise? Train? Should I get tickets before I go? Anything else I need to know? Places I shouldn't miss? I plan on proposing to my girlfriend in Positano...any suggestions on romantic spots?

Hi Ed,

To get to Positano from Rome, you take the train to Naples. In the Naples train station, go downstairs to the Circumvesuviana and take it to Sorrento.

From the Sorrento train station, cross the street to the SITA bus to get to Positano.

An alternative route (about 90-100E) is to hire a privte driver for the trip from Naples to Positano.

You can find train schedules for Rome/Naples at www.trenitalia.com.

They list two Molise's. You will have to decide which one you want.

You will probably have to go back to Naples to get there.

Molise is a region of Italy. What town are you going to in the Molise?

I will be going to Isernia. Can I take the train from Rome to Naples and then a ferry to Positano?

Hi,

Yes, you can.

Take a cab from Naples Centrale to Mollo Beverello.

You might have to change boats in Sorrento.

According to Trenitalia, there are not too many trains between Naples and Isernia daily. There is one that leaves Napoli Centrale station at about 7:30 p.m. arriving in Isernia about 2 hours later. There is no change of trains involved. I also checked the trains leaving out of Salerno but those are worse connections. See www.trenitalia.it
