Rome to Pompeii- any tour companies that don't stop at factories and don't do the drive through of Naples??? (Besides enjoyrome)

I've gone over my options for a day trip to Pompeii and none of them really fit what I want. All these bus trips seem to do the same thing, with the drive-through of Naples, stopping at factories, and giving you 2 ? hours at the site itself. The enjoyrome shuttle to Pompeii sounds the best, giving you 3 ? hours at the site with no pointless stops. Does anyone know of any other companies besides tourome and enjoyrome that go to Pompeii without the excess? Isn't there a company that does Pompeii & gives you some time to wander in Naples on your own? Or does Pompeii then brings you to the museum in Naples?

I really am not interested in doing it on our own on the trains, I will be with my father and am trying to keep it as low stress as possible. I'm beginning to think what I want doesn't exist, at least at a decent price.

Try www.driverinrome.com

It's a limo service out of Rome, But also a personal tour company. You don't say how much you want to spend, so they may be high for you, but we did a tour down to Pompeii with them, stopping in Positano on the way back, and stopping for a picnic lunch on the way down. They're pretty amenable to whatever you ask for. It's a family owned business, fluent in English, and just a really nice bunch of folks. They also hooked us up with a private tour guide in Pompeii which made it immensely helpful. Total day (and it was an all day event), for 4 of us was about $500, Pompeii tour included. Keep in mind, this was a private van, just us and the driver...no tour bus. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

It's just me & my father, so tops we would really only want to pay about $100 each. Anyone else in Rome 9/19-9/24?? Maybe I'll start a new post.

Your main problem is that most tour companies make a good portion of their profit off the commissions from the factory shops. That is how they can keep the prices relativey low.

If you don't want to do it on your own, then enjoyrome is probably your best bet. For just two people a private limo/driver will probably be too expensive.

I looked to see what a private car and driver would cost and it was about $500.00 for up to 4 people. That's a bite for sure. I don't think there's too many options other than the bus tours to Rome and Pompeii. They're all about the same. Our's didn't stop in Naples, just did a drive through. We did go to Sorrento after Pompeii and stopped, as I'm sure many other's have, at a shop that has beautiful inlaid wood furniture. But other this one and the cameo shop right at Pompeii that we were escorted into, those were the only two shop/factories that we went to. Actually the trips were nice. Look up Greyline Bus Tours on the web. They have a trip to Pompeii.

There is probably no way around it, AP, if you don't want to spend much on a tour or a private driver, they have to make their money somewhere, so by kickbacks from the factories. I have been on Greyline day tours all over the world and always spend part of the time in a shop or a factory.
The only other alternative I see for you is to take the train yourself, could you spend the night there, that might be less stressful for your dad.
There are some unstressful hotels in Naples I am sure, lol.
