Rome to Paris (via Naples). Question about train-airport transfer.
What is the best way to get from the Naples train station to the airport? How much time should we allow?
We are going from Rome to Paris in mid-September. We've researched the trains and overnight in a double compartment is 320eu. Ryanair's flight schedules are almost too painful to think about.
Now I'm looking at the Easyjet flight Naples to Paris-Orly. It leaves NAP at 15:20pm, arrives Orly at 17:40 (66eu for 2)...in time for dinner! In order to check in at NAP by 13:30, I'm thinking we could take the 9:45 from Rome Termini arriving at Napoli P.za Garibaldi at 11:38. (The next train is an "IC plus", arrives at 12:24.)
Under this option, it looks like we could save more than enough for another night in Paris! I haven't looked yet at options for getting from Orly to Hotel Bonaparte, but I assume we can take the RER/Metro...especially since we'll have no choice but to have minimal luggage!

Jeanne - There are 2 buses which run from Naples Station (- bus stop outside McDonalds) to the airport - the regular 3S and the 'Alibus' airport shuttle service.
The 3S runs every 10 mins. and costs approx. € 1.20
The 'Alibus' shuttle runs every 30 mins. and costs € 3.00
Journey time is approx 20 mins, I believe - depending on traffic.
Here's the link:

Hope this helps ...

Hi Jeanne,
>... options for getting from Orly to Hotel Bonaparte,...<
Take the RER B to St. Michel. Transfer to Metro line 4, direction Porte d'Orleans and get off at St. Sulpice. You are <2 blks from the hotel.

Thanks, IRA. I just knew you would pop up and tell me how to get to the Bonaparte! It's gone up a lot since we were last there. 3 years ago we paid 100eu/night in mid October. Now it's 148. But worth it for the familiar location.
I would appreciate your thoughts on this option. I'm pretty pleased with myself for figuring it out....which usually means I've missed something. LOL!
Steve: that was very helpful, especially the McD's landmark.
Just 2 more questions:
--How do we buy tickets for the NAP shuttle?
and
--With Easyjet requiring check-in 2 hrs b/4 flight, can we then leave their area and to eat lunch while we're waiting?

Jeanne - You can buy tickets for either the 3S or the 'Alibus' at the newspaper kiosk inside Naples station - or at the bus ticket kiosk in the middle of Piazza Garibaldi (- outside the station).
Hope this helps ...
Steve
P.S. ' ... can we then leave their area and to eat lunch while we're waiting'?
Yes
Easyjet open check-in 2 hrs before scheduled departure time (- and close 30 mins before departure).
Once you've checked in you can go wherever you want.
I never check in more than an hour early ...

Steve: You've been a great help. Not being bound to the 2-hr check in gives us much more flexibility.
We'll probably go ahead and take the morning train, but have lunch at Piazza Garibaldi b/4 heading to the airport.
