Rome to Naples - Train Stations

I am looking for the easiest way to get from Rome (FCO airport) to Naples - and then on to Praiano. I was planning on taking the train, but I'm not sure how far the Rome Train Station is from the Airport we are landing at.

Has anyone done this route before? If so, I'd appreciate any advice :)

Thanks!

You have to take the train from the airport(Leonardo express) to the the Termini train station in Rome(30 minutes - 10 euro ). From Termini catch the Eurostar to Naples (2 hours - 22 euro). Circumvesuviana train from downstairs Naples train station to Sorrento (1 hour- 5 euro). Bus from Sorrento train/bus station to Praiano. Sounds more complicated than it actually is. Prices and times are approximate.

Also wanted to add that trains run from Termini to Naples all the time, about 2-3 times an hour so you should be able to hop on a train faily easily once you get to Termini from the airport.

When you get off the train at Naples, make sure you get off at the Naples Central station, and then follow the signs (they are everywhere) to the Circumvesuviana.

Have fun!

Well not that I've tried this yet, but I'm flying into Rome and then going on to Sorrento. Since there are three of us and train tickets from the airport to the train station are 15E, I'm having a private drive take us to the station for 45E, then the train to Naples, then a driver to Sorrento for 80E. I'm splurging a bit because it's a long flight and I don't want to much hassle when I arrive.

The Leonardo is 9.50 euro not 15 according to the FCO airport site. I prefer the limo service from the airport to hotel/train w/e also. It's just nice to have someone waiting for you after getting off a long overnight flight.

Can anyone tell me which car service they have used? Is the car service in Italy comparable to service in NY in that when I walk out of the airport I would be able to 'hail a ride'?

Thanks for all your help!

I have used limoservicerome.com This was recommended by many posters on Fodors. If you do a search you will find the names of several other limo services. You e-mail them and they will get your flight # and times and they will wait in the airport outside baggage claim with a sign with your name. You will need to get some euro in the airport to pay the driver.

Also you can take the train to either the 'Napoli Centrale Station' or to the 'Piazza Garabaldi Station'.
It's basically the same station just on different levels, with Garibaldi underground. Regards, Walter
