Rome to Florence--driver?

Any one know what a driver & car would charge for the ride from Rome to Florence ? And the legnth of trip? I know that the train would be about 1 &1/2 hours at about 125 euros for two first class in Sept.
Thanks.

The drive is 2.5 to 3 hrs, or about twice as long as the train. I have no idea about the cost. You could search from Rome airport car services here on fodors, then contact them to check prices. My guess is 200-300 euros.

Even 2nd class on the high speed trains is quite comfortable if you want to save more money.

This website lists Rome to Florence from the airports:

Figure around 3 hours by car.

It's kind of a short rail trip for first class, IMO.

Thanks for the info. The cars are way to expensive! I think you're both right about paying for 1st class for such a short trip. That never dawned on me! K.

I arranged this for some clients recently and it was E500 for a party of six with luggage. It took them over 5 hours with traffic. They regretted not taking the train.
