Rome to Capri
Hello,
Spending our last three nights in Italy at Ceasar Augustus on Capri (after a 11 day tour of Italy). Need advice on the best way to get to Capri-train to Naples?, car, . The hotel is willing to offer transfers. Thanks for the help. |
I can tell you what we did. We reserved seats on the ES Alta Velocita train from Rome to Naples because it cut out 1/2 hour travel time as opposed to the Eurostar.
The ES train from the Roma Termini takes approximately 2 hours on this route, the ES Alta Velocita is only 1 hr., 27 min. into Naples Centrale Train Station. Outside the Naples Centrale Station we took a taxi cab to Molo Beverello (port) at Piazza Municipo. The cab ride took about 15 minutes at breakneck speed. We quickly purchased our Hydrofoil tickets at the port (14 euro ea.), and arrived at the Marina Grande, Capri in about 20 minutes. Real time: Left Rome at 7:25 a.m., arrived Capri at 9:35 a.m. |
We drove our rental car to Naples, stayed 2 days and then drove to Sorrento where we picked up the hydrofoil to Capri. I don't know if that's the fastest but it worked for us.
We also stayed 2 nights at Ceasar Augustus in Anacapri. The only way to describe it is "Unbelievable!" Be sure to eat at Rondinello up the street and take the chairlift to the top of the island. The bus ride to and from Capri was also amazing. |
Thanks. Actually I forgot to state we would be coming from Rome.
