Would you recommend taking the EuroRail pass for this?>

You'd have to have a list of trains you are definitely going to take before you can say that or not - probably not if you do the discounted ticket routine (www.seat61.com is the superb resource for that) - but if taking several trains (unlikely in 2 weeks) perhaps though in France and Italy you cannot just hop on any train with a pass as you can in many countries but need seat reservations that cost several bucks each seat. Your child would get a free pass if you buy one.
