Rome side trip suggestions

I am planning our travel itinerary and need a suggestion for a side trip from Rome (out and back in a days time).

try this place, we stayed there 4 years ago and had a good time...
Ceri is the name of the town...a one way street is the only way up into the town and you have to wait for the traffic light to change or you will be in big trouble.

Last year we went to Civita di Bagnoregio, which is a must see, but a little farther away...simply amazing...
Rick Steves has plenty of info about it

Absolutely, positively go to Ostia Antica. You can easily get there from Metro B and then the Lido train, about 1 hr each way.

Very few people go there, it is stunning. Like Pompei in a park. It has far better mosaics than Pompei, but not as many frescoes. The amphitheater is still used during the summer.

Take a picnic lunch with you. The train station is just across the highway from the entrance to the park, maybe 1/2 km total.

Check out my previous thread. Had loads of good ideas and actually ended up with the most awesome day out (plus an engagement ring to boot!!)
